A crane has smashed into the central reservation of the M25 and forced the motorway to shut. 

A serious collision tonight sent the crane-carrying vehicle crunching through the barrier and sending debris flying over the carriageway at Junction 27 in Essex.

It has caused huge tailbacks in both directions including more than 10 miles on the clockwise carriageway.

Essex Police confirmed nobody has been seriously injured but warned drivers to brace for road closures for ‘some considerable time.’
