Madonna insists Prince Harry and Meghan Markle rent her Central Park apartment in NYC

Madonna has insisted that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle rent her Central Park-facing apartment in New York City.

In a bizarre video shared to Instagram, the pop legend, 61, also claimed that Canada is ‘boring’ and urged the couple to relocate to Manhattan instead.

Earlier this year, Harry and Meghan announced that they have stepped back from their senior roles in the Royal Family with the duo moving to a £11m mansion in Canada with son Archie, eight-months.

Madonna, who has been in London during her Madame X Tour, said in the video taken backstage while jazz music played: ‘Hey, don’t run off to Canada. It’s so boring there!’

Taking a moment to reflect, the Like A Prayer singer continued: ‘I’ll let them sublet my apartment in Central Park West. It’s a two bed, it’s got the best view in Manhattan. Incredible balcony, that’s going to be a winner, a deal breaker.’

Madonna added: ‘No, Buckingham Palace has got nothing on CPW (Central Park West). The view is much better for sure, not a bunch of guys in woolly hats,’ making reference of the Royal guards who wear bearskin hats.

In 2018, the star lost a lengthy court battle with her high-end Manhattan co-op board after a judge declared she must be physically present whenever family or staff stay, or lose her $7.3million (£5.6M) apartment in NYC.

The Material Girl, whose main residence is a $40million (£30.7M) mansion in the Upper East Side, filed a lawsuit against the board of her Harperley Hall apartment building, in the Upper West Side, in April 2016. She purchased the property in 2008.

The suit was filed two years after the board changed building rules to restrict the singer’s children and staff from staying on the premises – located at W. 64th Street and Central Park West – without her being ‘in residence’ at the time.

‘Plaintiff is a world-renowned recording artist, performer and singer who is constantly on world tours,’ the singer’s legal team argued, Page Six reported.

MADONNA’S LIFE IN NEW YORK

The pop star, whose full name is Madonna Louise Ciccone, first moved to New York from Michigan when she was 19.

Her first apartment in the city was a four-story walk-up at 232 East 4th Street in the East Village, according to the New York Post.

The Upper East Side townhouse was purchased for $40million (£30.7M) in 2009, according to the Post, which quoted a broker as saying that no other residence in the area ‘has ever sold for $20million (£15.3M), let alone $30million (£23M) – or ever will again.’

The property has 26 rooms, including 13 bedrooms, and 14 bathrooms – as well as ‘a 3,000-square- foot garden, nine fireplaces, an elevator and a wine cellar with a grotto.’

But the argument meant little to Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Gerald Lebovits who ruled that the singer missed her deadline to challenge the rule in September 2017.

It comes after the singer took things to another level on Sunday, as she asked an audience member if he had an STD and branded his French countrymen ‘stuck up, snotty arrogant people’ before she stole a drink of his beer at her London show.

The star, 61, was playing her latest gig at the city’s Palladium when she decided to get chatting to twenty something French speaker Perry Cooke in her audience before carrying out the lewd and bizarre behaviour.

In a video shared on her Instagram on Monday, Madonna was initially chatting in French, when she asked him why he was at the concert by himself.

When the fan explained his friends were in France, she uttered ‘Quelle dommage’ – what a shame, before ridiculing his bright red jumpsuit and saying she excused him.

Madonna then told the fan in French she wanted his beer and asked if he’d drunk from it. When he replied that he’d had a little bit out of the bottle she said ‘A little? STD?’ before adding: ‘I don’t care I’m thirsty – cheers’ and gargled with it.

During the bizarre flirty chat, Madonna told Perry she had a lot of talents and asked if he always came to the theatre by himself. She told him: ‘Your shoes do not go with your jumpsuit’ as he explained they were his father’s.

After he told Madonna that he loved her, Madonna asked if he was advertising Marlboro cigarettes as their logo featured on his jumpsuit.

When he told her that everyone in France smoked, she cheekily replied: ‘Yes and they will die soon and there will be no more of you and there will be more room for us and less stuck up snotty arrogant people.’

As the audience erupted at her comments she added: ‘I’m just kidding. It’s a stereotype. I love French people. My children all go to French school, they speak French, I love baguettes, especially when they are big diamonds.’

At the end she said: ‘Lovely speaking to you even though we didn’t really speak. I did all the talking. The thing is, I’ve just got to get on with my journey.’

Some fans were amused by the interactions whilst others took offence.

One said: ‘Madonna that was ignorant, not impressed.’

Another said: ‘Loved this!! cracked me up.’

Others also had a go at Madonna for not playing a full show after it overran.

One fan commented: ‘I was there. Very poor show. Made a lot of money but only got half a show. Unfair. How can we get our money back?’
