A man who viciously attacked a woman who rejected him and a man at a Minnesota wilderness gathering before attacking a deputy was high off a plethora of drugs.
Spencer Fredrickson, 20, was charged on Tuesday following the Saturday incident at the Rainbow Gathering in Superior National Forest, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
The man was said to have been under the influence of hallucinogens LSA, LSD and Morning Glory Seeds,’ the Star Tribune reports. All are classified as being illicit.

He is said to have groped a 40-year-old woman who then rebuffed him, prompting him to then strangle her.
The Northfield, Minnesota, resident is said to have then grabbed the woman’s top and bottom of her jaw and pulled ‘her face apart as hard as he could.’
People heard the woman screaming and rushed to her aid in efforts to free her from Fredrickson’s grasps, who was said to have been ‘exhibiting superhuman strength.’

A man named ‘Satellite’ tried to intervene which resulted in part of his finger being bitten off by the drug induced man.
Using duct tape to restrain him, the good Samaritans waited for the sheriff’s deputy to arrive.
But Fredrickson stayed irate and dug his fingernails into the deputy’s protective gloves.

Both the man and woman were treated at a local hospital for their injuries.
Fredrickson was charged with felony first-degree assault and a gross misdemeanor fourth-degree assault on a peace officer.
Cook County District Judge Michael Cuzzo ordered that he be tested for mental deficiency or illnesses. He also ruled that the man undergo competency assessment for his trial.
He is currently in jail on a $200,000 bail.

It is said that the gathering is a ‘a loose-knit group of people without leadership or organization who gather in national forests to discuss political and environmental issues, pray for world peace and celebrate life,’ according to the United States Forest Service.
