Man proposes during romantic Valentine’s meal in Greggs

  • Joe Callingham and Pineapple Featonby met in the Stockwell Greggs last year
  • When Joe saw that Greggs were offering a Valentine’s deal he saw his chance
  • After arranging it with the pastry-chain he popped the question to Pineapple
  • The moment a doughnut plate arrived drizzled in chocolate that read ‘will you marry me?’ was caught on video

A romantic meal in Greggs sharing a pasty or two may not be every couple’s idea of the perfect Valentine’s date.

However Joe Callingham made it a Valentines to remember when he got down on one knee in the middle of the pastry-selling favourite.

The moment Joe popped the question to his girlfriend, Pineapple Featonby, was caught on film.

The Stockwell, south London branch of Greggs is close to the couple’s hearts as it is where they met last November.

When he spotted his now fiancée in Greggs she was buying pineapple chunks and he immediately recognised her from his local area.

Although after they met the pair chatted the whole way back to Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire Joe forgot to ask her name, so he saved her in his phone as ‘Pineapple Girl’.

She clearly loved it as three months later she legally changed her named to Pineapple.

Following a whirlwind romance Joe spotted that Greggs were offering a Valentine’s deal of four-courses costing just £15 for two, including a glass of Prosecco.

He called upon Greggs for some assistance who brought out a plate with ‘will you marry me?’ ice on it while the couple’s song played in the background.

A spokesperson for Greggs said: ‘It’s not every day we get a proposal in one our shops, so when Joe got in touch to tell us their story and what he was planning we were delighted to play our part by helping him set up the big question and making sure they had a romantic evening.’
