Man sues his mother after four-year-old son accidentally shot himself dead with her gun

A Texas man is suing his mother for negligence after his four-year-old son fatally shot himself with a loaded gun found on the woman’s bed.

The boy, Kedran Johnson, was with his grandmother on January 27 when he found her gun and accidentally shot himself.

His father, Kerry Johnson, has alleged the young boy suffered greatly and ‘endured conscious pain’ before his eventual death, Click 2 Houston reported.

Johnson’s suit, filed on June 21, claims his mother, Alice Fletcher, was negligent in leaving a loaded gun in an area accessible to a child.

He claims she failed the boy in leaving the gun loaded with the youngster in the home and allowing Kedran to be alone in a room with the weapon.

Fletcher’s gun was allegedly on her bed when Kedran found it and decided to play with it.

Police were called about 1.20pm, and say Kedran had shot himself with a small caliber handgun.

Johnson says as a result of his mother’s negligence, he suffered ‘past and future mental anguish, as well as pain and suffering’.

He is also suing for ‘pecuniary loss’ and ‘loss of love and affection’.

In total, he has asked for $1million in damages.
