Man Utd boost as Marco Verratti hit by fresh injury before PSG clash

Marco Verratti hit by fresh injury less than a week before Manchester United take on PSG in Champions League

  • Marco Verratti only returned to training for PSG after an injury earlier this week
  • But Thomas Tuchel cast doubts on him being available for the Bordeaux clash
  • PSG face Manchester United in Champions League only days after that match

Marco Verratti has suffered another injury blow ahead of PSG’s clash with Manchester United.

The 26-year-old had handed the French champions a boost earlier this week when he returned to training on Monday following a period out with an ankle injury he picked up in January.

PSG are already going to be without Neymar for the Champions League last-16 match against United next week.

Verratti’s return improved their options for the clash, but the Italian missed the extra-time win against Villefranche in the Coupe de France on Wednesday night.

And Thomas Tuchel confirmed after the game that Verratti had been hit by another injury.

‘Marco Verratti could not finish training yesterday [Tuesday]. He had problems,’ he said.

‘I have to wait until tomorrow [Thursday] to decide if he can play against Bordeaux.

‘His new problem is something else, but I do not know too much.’

PSG’s clash with Bordeaux takes place on Saturday afternoon before they make the trip to Old Trafford.

The first leg of their Champions League encounter against United is on Tuesday evening.
