  • Red Devils fans were delighted after a shot of the kit was leaked back in March
  • It features a blue, white and red design based on the 1990-92 away design

The 2021-22 Manchester United away kit has been dropped, with Adidas’ fresh blue and white design set to give fans that warm fuzzy feeling with it’s 90’s feel.

When the new change strip was leaked back in March, the Old Trafford faithful voiced their delight at the nod to the club’s rich history, with fans describing it as an ‘instant buy.’

Now the real thing has arrived and it doesn’t disappoint, with a classy modern take on the 1990-92 kit worn by the likes of Ryan Giggs, Mark Hughes and Steve Bruce.

Manchester United have released their new away kit for the 2021-22 season with a blue design

It was Giggs’ first United away kit after making his debut for the club, and Sir Alex Ferguson’s men wore it for the 1992 League Cup final when they edged Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest at the old Wembley.

Back then the jersey represented the iconic Sharp sponsor, while the modern adaptation sports a new name.

Team Viewer have replaced Chevrolet for the new season after signing a £47m-a-season deal, and the understated red logo helps the kit stay faithful to its 90’s roots.

United open their season by hosting old rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford, but will likely don the away strip for their second game against Southampton at St Mary’s.

The kit was supposed to be debuted in a friendly against Preston on Saturday, which has now been cancelled amid a Covid scare.
