A manhunt is underway for a hooded figure after a woman was grabbed from behind and sexually assaulted while walking down a CBD street late at night.
The 28-year-old woman was approached by an unknown man as she walked along A’Beckett Street in Melbourne about 10.40pm on January 2.
The man came up behind her and sexually assaulted her before walking off towards nearby Flagstaff Gardens, Victoria Police said.
He was last seen running towards King Street on the other side of the park.
Detectives on Monday evening released CCTV footage of a man they hope can assist them with their investigation.
He was pictured walking along the pavement wearing a white hoodie, black tracksuit pants and white sneakers.

The hooded man also appears to be holding a white mobile phone in his right hand.
He can be seen touching his face towards the end of the short clip.
Anyone who recognises the man or has information that could help find him is urged to contact police.
