Diego Maradona is in the stands to watch Argentina take on France after he his extraordinary behaviour raised eyebrows during his nation’s last game.

The Argentina legend is back to watch his nation in the first World Cup knock-out game today after blaming a white wine binge for his actions at the Nigeria game earlier this week.

The 57-year-old appeared more subdued today in Kazan as he blew kisses to his adoring fans in the stadium and kissed his partner Rocio Olivia.

Wearing a Lacoste top, sunglasses and two matching watches, the former Napoli forward was all smiles today and appeared unaffected by his exploits earlier this week.

During the last game he was seen dancing wildly, unveiling a banner of himself and then appearing to fall asleep as he sat in the stands during his country’s crunch Group D clash against Nigeria in Saint Petersburg.

When Argentina secured a 2-1 victory with a dramatic late winner, cameras focussed on the 57-year-old as he angrily gave the middle finger to fans below his seat in the stadium’s VIP area.

Images have emerged of Maradona being helped from his seat and having his pulse checked by medics – sparking reports he had been rushed to hospital. He later denied this in an Instagram post, insisting he was ‘fine’ but that his ‘neck hurt a lot’.

Social media users have highlighted what they claimed was a suspicious-looking white residue smudged on the glass barrier in front of him – but it could just as easily have been harmless stains or fingerprints or on the surface.

In a WhatsApp recording sent to Argentinian journalists, the World Cup winner later blamed white wine for his behaviour.
