Married At First Sight cast reveal the genius trick they use to get out of explosive Dinner Parties and prevent embarrassing footage from airing

Married At First Sight Australia contestants have exposed the genius tactic they use to get out of filming tumultuous scenes for Dinner Parties.

Bride Melinda Willis from season 10 of the Channel Nine series revealed last year’s cast would sometimes act drunk so they could avoid doing vox pops.

She said producers limited the alcohol brides and grooms consumed because they couldn’t air any footage if they got too drunk, reported Yahoo Lifestyle on Thursday.

‘You’re meant to have like, roughly two glasses, but they really just cut you off when you start not being able to do a voxie which is your chat to camera,’ she said.

‘So if you didn’t want to do your chat to camera, you would just drink or act drunk… and you know it’s not going to be used because they can’t use it.’

Fellow bride Alyssa Barmonde, who also starred in last year’s season, said Sara Mesa likely asked for a glass of wine in last Wednesday’s episode because she was cut off.

‘They probably would have removed the wine at that point… If you’re too drunk, they can’t use your footage,’ she said.

MAFS Dinner Parties are renowned for becoming explosive every week as couples come together and confront each other about simmering issues.

This Wednesday was no different when bride Andrea Thompson had several explosive outbursts toward her TV husband Richard Sauerman.

The photographer, 51, was once head-over-heels for the older groom, 62, but their connection fizzled during a very heated argument this week.

After an initial blow out earlier in the episode, during which Andrea slammed her notebook against a table very hard, things came to a head at the Dinner Party.

The tumultuous couple attempted to put on a united front at the Dinner Party with the other couples, but Andrea’s resolve quickly fell apart once more.

Richard crossed a boundary Andrea set by once again bringing up her ex partners in front of the others, blaming her past trauma for the breakdown of their relationship.

Andrea aggressively hit the table once more, this time with her fist, screaming, ‘Don’t say that! For f**k sake!’ to the shock of the group.

She later told producers: ‘I’m growing so frustrated with Richie. I’ve asked him to stop bringing up my previous relationships. Just his utter disregard to clear boundaries is really upsetting me.’
