EXCLUSIVE: Cameron Merchant reveals the Father’s Day tradition he and his wife Jules Robinson are creating for their own family

Married At First Sight’s Cameron Merchant and his wife Jules Robinson welcomed their son Oliver into the world in September 2020.

And on Thursday, the doting father-of-one, 38, opened up about being a dad during an exclusive interview with Daily Mail Australia ahead of Father’s Day on Sunday.

‘I don’t think parenting gets easier over time. I think you just get better at it is what I feel,’ Merchant confessed.

‘Every single day is a new challenge. Just as a parent, as you start to feel, “I’ve got the hang of that”, something else will completely shift and change, and you’ve got a new challenge on your hands.’

Cam explained that he and Jules, 40, have a strict rule about being open and transparent about communicating how they’re feeling when it comes to parenting.

‘I think is very important in parenting, we’re very open with how we are feeling and what’s going on in our head,’ he continued.

The former cricketer added he wasn’t afraid of telling Jules when if he’s feeling down, overwhelmed or asking when he needs a bit of help.

Cam also spoke how he was creating his own Father’s Day traditions with his family.

‘I go see my dad in the morning and we’ll have little sort of like a breakfast. I have a little tradition of taking him Cadbury because he’s a mad fan.’

‘We’ll then have a nice little picnic at home with Ollie, myself and Jules.’ 

Cam and Jules are one of Married At First Sight’s few success stories.

They legally wed in a ceremony televised on A Current Affair in November 2019 and welcomed their son, Ollie Chase, in September 2020.
