Terrifying moment car flies through the air at high speed and slams into a stunned father’s bedroom wall: ‘The room just exploded’

A father had a miracle escape when a car slammed into his bedroom wall after the driver lost control at high speed and wedged into the side of the house

Eddie Flynn was sleeping in the front bedroom of his Verbana Rd rental property in Aveley, Perth when a yellow Mazda hatchback ploughed through the wall of his bedroom around 11.20pm.

Neighbours said the car was driving at such speed when it hit a curb that it flew through the air before smashing into the side of Mr Flynn’s home. 

The car stopped centimetres from where he was asleep.

Mr Flynn miraculously escaped any injury but was trapped inside his bedroom for more than five minutes before he managed to crawl out through the debris.

He told 9News he feels lucky to be alive and joked he will need to go out and buy a lotto ticket, just as soon as he could find his wallet.

‘A car just decided to come through the wall and join me in bed,’ he said.

‘The whole room just exploded into dust and debris.’

While the family are thankful to escape without injury they now find themselves looking for a place to live.

Mr Flynn said all his belongings were destroyed by the car but said ‘it’s just stuff’ and said he is just thankful that he and his son, who was in the lounge room at the time, walked away with their lives.

The 21-year-old driver was badly injured and rushed to Royal Perth Hospital.

No charges have been laid.
