Meet the emergency room doctor whose dewy glowing complexion is the envy of thousands

An emergency room doctor with impossibly dewy, glowing skin has revealed the very extensive skincare regime he follows to keep his complexion youthful.

Dr Brendan Khong, who is originally from Singapore, said he’s always been interested in dermatology and refuses to ‘buy into trends’ when it comes to skincare.

‘Just because a certain ingredient is the ‘it’ ingredient of the moment doesn’t necessarily mean it is going to be beneficial for your skin,’ the Bristol-based medical professional told Into The Gloss.

Dr Khong said his main trick when it comes to skincare is ‘consistency’.

Although he has his ‘lazy’ days, he always manages to double cleanse and apply some retinol – even after long shifts at work.

In the mornings he cleanses with Tatcha’s The Deep Cleanse, Dr Sam’s Flawless Cleanser, or IDS Delicate Cleanser, and then uses Biologique Recherche P50, an AUD$126 exfoliator, all over.

He said he is a ‘big fan’ of P50 and covers his scalp, face and body with it twice a day.

He also uses Biologique’s Masque Vivant which is a skin treatment to help elasticity, and VIP O2, which is an ‘antipollution’ treatment.

On top of this he applies Visolastine, a hydrating mask, and Biomagic, which is an energising face mask.

Dr Khong said he has noticed the mask from Biologique has helped to create his flawless complexion and makes his skin glow.

He aims to apply a face mask every second day depending on how his skin feels and he recently bought Cryo Sticks to give himself an at home cryo facial.

He uses a variety of different Biologique serums, such as Complexe Iribiol, Placenta, Elastine Pure, and Collagen Natif and then he uses IDS C-Plus or Skinceuticals Serum 10.

The doctor follows that up with Biologique Eye Cream and either the exfoliant Creme aux Acides de Fruits or Dermopurifante, which is a moisturiser.

Next he will use either the Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist or Fluide VIP O2 to seal everything in before applying three layers of his SPF 50+ IDS sunscreen to ensure full SPF protection.

‘I’ve always been taught to stay out of the sun – I’ve worn sunscreen faithfully ever since I was 13! If you see me in the summer, I drive around with a visor which never fails to gather odd looks, and also wear a jacket with sleeves backwards,’ he said.

‘My look is always dewy and shiny. I hate matte skin – I find it very ageing. My friend Jordan once said I had “dolphin skin”, which is fairly accurate. I want skin so glowy, you can see your future in it.’

Due to the dehydrating nature of hospitals Dr Khong will freshen up with Omorovicza’s Queen of Hungary Mist and Caudalie Beauty Elixir.

In the evening he will double cleanse with a product he has been using for 10 years, the Shu Uemura Ultime8 Cleansing Oil.

He uses Biologique’s MC110 once to twice a week – a lotion that brightens the skin – and said he always sees a difference in his face after he’s finished using it.

Dr Khong also applies Neostrata’s Skin Active Retinol or IDS A-plus, an age-preventative treatment and beauty gadgets such as ZIIP machine and the Foreo.

The busy doctor said that he believes skin reflects your overall health, which is why he takes supplements like Crystal Tomato, which is high in lycopene and a good source of antioxidants.

Dr Khong aims to get a deep cleansing facial every three to four weeks to assist in removing any impurities and product build-up and occasionally has radiofrequency and skin needling done as well.
