Meghan Markle’s trusted make-up artist Daniel Martin touches down in the Netherlands

Meghan Markle’s make-up artist has arrived in The Hague ahead of the Duchess of Sussex’s first public appearance in Europe since Megxit.

Daniel Martin, who won high praise for creating Meghan’s natural make-up look at her 2018 wedding, revealed he is at the Invictus Games in an Instagram post this morning.

The Seattle-born make-up artist has long been friends with Meghan after meeting while she was filming Suits in Toronto in 2011.

Posting today, he wrote: ‘Are you ready?’ next to a recording of  a sign entering the games, before sharing a clip of a bakery counter.

It comes as Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, held top-secret ‘clear the air’ talks with the Queen and Prince Charles at Windsor Castle on Thursday after stopping off in the UK en route to the Invictus Games in The Netherlands.

It is the first time the Duchess of Sussex has set foot in Britain since she and Harry acrimoniously quit as working royals and left the royal family reeling with their score-settling Oprah interview in which they accused an unnamed senior royal of racism.

It’s not known who else from the so-called ‘Sussex Squad’ will also be arriving in the Netherlands, however her hairdresser George Northwood is believed to be in London.

The couple will arrive in the Netherlands today for the Invictus Games, Prince Harry’s Paralympic-style event he set up for wounded service personnel, which opens on Saturday.

Their whistle-stop tour in the UK is the first time Meghan has been on UK soil in more than two years.

Meghan last saw the Queen at an awkward Commonwealth Day service on March 8 2020 but has claimed since to regularly speak to her on the phone and over video calls.

Meanwhile Harry has not seen his grandmother in person since Prince Philip’s funeral last April when he flew over briefly from their new home in the US. But their contact would have been limited because of Covid restrictions.

He has since launched a High Court legal action against the Home Office claiming it is too dangerous to bring his family to the UK after being stripped of his official Metropolitan Police protection.

It is not known how the couple arrived – whether they took a private jet or flew in commercially – but their presence is the talk of locals on the Windsor estate, the Mail understands.

They arrived incognito on Wednesday and are believed to have stayed at Frogmore Cottage, the home they have kept on despite quitting the UK where Princess Eugenie and her family currently live, overnight.

They are not believed to have their children, Archie and Lilibet with them, the latter of whom the Queen has never met.

Speaking previously about their friendship, Daniel revealed that Meghan  didn’t have a publicist, so  she personally reached out to Daniel’s agent at The Wall Group when she was in need of a make-up artist.

He said they both had an ‘instant connection.’

‘I knew what she wanted—it was one of those things where, she looked at herself in the mirror and was like, “Oh my God, this is what I always wanted, but I didn’t know how to get there,” he told d beauty website Into The Gloss

The pair then kept in touch and while working on her former blog The Tig, Meghan asked Daniel to give her a helping hand.

Daniel has not been shy talking to the press about his royal connection. In December he told People magazine that Harry and Meghan are ‘loving life’ as a family-of-four, at their $14m mansion in Montecito.

‘It’s about finding that work-life balance now. They’re experiencing it themselves,’ Daniel said.

But despite the challenge of finding a work-life balance, Daniel described the pair as ‘funny’ as ever as he did Meghan’s make-up for the gala at the Intrepid Museum in November.

Admitting that meeting them in Big Apple was ‘so much fun’ and felt ‘like the gang was back together, Daniel said: ‘Harry jokes around a lot, and Meghan is really funny. It was nice to have those belly laughs again!’

‘They are loving life as a family of four. ‘They’ve struck a rhythm as a foursome.’
