Melania Trump battles the stormy weather as she boards a plane at Joint Base Andrews

Melania Trump had to brave the rainy weather in Washington D.C. on Monday morning when she was spotted boarding a plane at Joint Base Andrews.

The 49-year-old first lady battled the wet weather while while wearing a black trench coat and auburn suede heels — as she prepared to fly to West Virginia to meet with local and state leaders.

In an attempt to shield herself from the downpour, Melania held a large black umbrella when quickly boarding the airplane. But she was pictured in higher spirits after landing in West Virginia to clear skies.

Getting drenched: Melania Trump, 49, left the White House on Monday morning to visit West Virginia for the day

She still styled her long brunette locks in soft waves, and the hair appeared to remain intact despite the poor weather.

But it was a daring choice for Melania, in terms of her shoe choice, as the heels looked like they were getting soaked from the rain in the brief stretch it took for her to board the airplane.

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, who previously served as the first lady’s press secretary and now replaces Sarah Sanders, posted on Twitter Monday about Melania’s schedule for the day in West Virginia.

‘HAPPENING NOW: @flotus is wheels up & on her way to West Virginia to participate in mtgs w state & local leaders and learn more about community efforts to combat the opioid epidemic,’ she wrote.

On Monday morning, first daughter Ivanka Trump also had to battle the rainy weather when she left her home for the office. She was pictured wearing a white dress with pink flowers scattered across the fabric.

But Ivanka was luckier than Melania, as she was able to avoid most of the storm from the comfort of her vehicle.

Melania’s time in Washington D.C. was brief after she returned from Bedminister, New Jersey, on Sunday evening with President Donald Trump, 73.

The first couple left on Friday following the Fourth of July celebrations in Washington D.C. to stay at a Donald-owned resort, Trump National Golf Club.

The weather was better for Melania and the president when the landed on Sunday following their brief weekend getaway to New Jersey.

Melania was pictured walking alongside Trump in a white dress that fell just above her ankles.

The silhouette of the dress accented Melania’s waist with a white belt cinched just above her hips. The white fabric then slightly billowed out to make up the skirt.

She paired the look with nude-colored stilettos and wore her hair in its standard loose waves.

The dress was more formal compared to what Melania was pictured in when she left for Bedminster on Friday morning.

The 49-year-old first lady was pictured wearing khaki-colored pants that cut off just above her ankles and a white button-up shirt, which was much more casual than her dressier attire on Sunday.

Melania paired her casual attire with $990 Michael Kors white and brown tote and matching white sneakers.

Her long brunette locks remained down in soft waves, as the first lady shaded her eyes with one of her favorite pair of sunglasses when out in the Washington D.C. sun.

It was a short plane ride for the first family, with Bedminster only about 200 miles away from the White House.

Melania and Trump landed at Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey a few hours later and appeared ready to reach the golf course for their weekend away.

Rainy weather has become a problem for Melania and Trump in the last week. They for the ‘Salute to America’ Fourth of July event, held in front of the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall.

Trump was anticipated to give a speech during the event, but it was first postponed in hopes some of the rain would subside for the first family before they appeared on stage.

Melania took a risk during the wet event by wearing a white short-sleeved dress that fell just above her ankles.

The dress included stripes of different colors in the rainbow, and she paired the look with pink heels.

Although the outfit involved little to no patriotic colors for the holiday, Melania still appeared as a vision in white when walking the stage with Trump before he gave his speech to thousands of drenched citizens.

Rain then continued throughout the event, with Melania looking wet by the end.
