A shopper has transformed the filthy grout around her tiles using a laundry product after a professional cleaner failed to do the job.
The mum, from Melbourne, used $10 OMO laundry powder, a bucket of hot water and a $7 scrub brush to clean the floor at her work without any heavy scrubbing.
With two scoops of laundry powder added to a bucket of hot water, she was able to lift the stubborn, discoloured stains from the grout in just 40 minutes.

‘A cleaner who cleaned this site before literally did nothing. I didn’t need to do this, but l couldn’t help myself. It’s disgusting and pretty filthy, l won’t lie. I don’t think it’s been cleaned in over 10 years,’ she wrote in a Facebook group.
‘Give it a try, it was remarkably easy. I just immediately scrubbed it and it came off so quickly – even l was surprised.’
To tackle the grout, she put two scoops of laundry powder in a bucket of water.
‘I dunked the scrubbing brush in the bucket and then scrubbed away. That simple. It came off really easily. I was so surprised,’ she said.
‘I tried pouring a generous amount on the grout to soak it but then l have to get on my knees to scrub it, which isn’t ideal because l get wet knees, so l just moved backwards.
‘That took me about 40 minutes or so to clean. I did mop the floor with floor cleaner afterwards to take off any OMO residual so it wasn’t slippery.’

The woman said she has used cleaning products designed specifically for tackling grout but found the laundry powder method was ‘way easier and cheaper’.
She said the best part about the product is it contains no ‘strong smells like bleach’.
‘It’s wonderful stuff. It takes a little more effort compared to Jif cream cleanser, but my laundry powder is non-toxic and has a lovely fragrance,’ she said.
After sharing the incredible floor transformation, many were amazed with the results, saying they couldn’t wait to give it a go.
‘I am going to try tomorrow. This is a life saving hack,’ one wrote, while another added: ‘I’m definitely doing this to my floors. Thank you for sharing your handiwork, you did an excellent job.’
