The Los Angeles Angels led Colorado Rockies by an extraordinary 23-0 at the bottom of the fourth inning on Saturday night.

The brutal scoreline sent shockwaves around MLB as Mike Trout and his team piled on the misery against the Rockies at Coors Field.

The Angels scored 13 runs in the third inning alone. Incredibly, the scores were 0-0 after the first inning and Angels only got two runs in the second.

But the runs started following with three straight homers, started by Trott and then followed by Brandon Drury and Matt Thaiss. The Angels set franchise marks for runs and hits (28) in a game and tied team records for runs and homers with their huge third inning.

Trout hit a 451-foot homer to center field on a 1-0 pitch from Colorado starter Chase Anderson.

Drury hit the next pitch for a 437-foot homer to left center, and Matt Thais followed with a 399-foot homer to right.

It is the second time Anderson has given up homers on three straight pitchers. He gave up consecutive homers to the Yankees´ Brett Gardner, DJ LeMahieu and Luke Voit while pitching for Toronto on Sept. 17, 2020.

So far this season, Trout has 17 homers, Drury 13 and Thaiss 4.

Taylor Ward and Shohei Ohtani later added RBI singles and Mickey Moniak blasted a two-run homer as the score reached 15-0.

As impressive as the third Angels inning is, it is not actually an MLB record.

The highest scoring inning ever came back in 1953 when the Red Sox fires 17 runs in the seventh inning against the Tigers.

The Angels eventually won the game 25-1.
