Model scout Kirk Blake who discovered Jordan Barrett will be on lookout at Splendour In The Grass

Strike a pose! Model scout who discovered Jordan Barrett will be recruiting at Splendour festival in Byron Bay – but you’ll have to meet his very STRICT requirements

  • Kirk Blake, who works for Hamburg-based model agency Kult, is a model scout
  • He found fresh faced  beauty Jordan Barrett while he was in Byron Bay years ago
  • Now he’s looking for new talent while at the Splendour in the Grass festival
  • The weekend music concert is known for attracting a range of influencers

One of the world’s top model scouts – who spotted international success story Jordan Barrett – will be attending Splendour in the Grass festival to look for new talent.

Kirk Blake, who works for Hamburg-based model agency Kult, understands the pull of the Byron Bay music concert in Australia because in 2014 that’s where he found Mr Barrett, who has since worked for Versace, Tom Ford and Coach.

‘Byron Bay is a crossroads for young people from across the nation and the world,’ Mr Blake told Sunshine Coast Daily.

But while he’ll be checking out the talent among the thousands of revellers set to attend the festival from July 19 to 21, those vying for a coveted contract will need to work hard to get noticed.

Mr Blake chooses just three women and five men each year who he believes has what it takes to become profitable models.

He will be looking for someone he has an ‘immediate physical and cerebral’ reaction to and can tell just by glancing at an image whether that person will make it on the runway.

The people chosen will need to display authenticity – that means no duck lips in selfies – and be realistic about their chances of fame.

But even if the Byron Bay alum – many of who have thousands of followers on Instagram – can draw a crowd they’ll still need to meet a list of stringent requirements for international models.

‘We look for great bone structure, good teeth and skin, and girls need to be around 175-185cm and boys need to be 185-190cm,’ he told the publication.

Despite it being winter Down Under the dress code for festivals such as these is always less (festival-goer pictured at last year's Splendour festival)

While those requirements narrow the field considerably, he commented that agencies are always on the lookout for diversity.

The ‘glitter boobs’ trend – with women covering their chests with sparkles – will also likely be seen come the weekend.
