Moeen Ali confirms he will RETIRE from Test cricket for a second time after England drew the Ashes series

  • Moeen Ali has retired from Test cricket after the conclusion of the Ashes series
  • The 36-year-old came out of retirement as an injury replacement for the Ashes
  • But explained he wouldn’t be answering another Test request from Ben Stokes

Moeen Ali has declared his retirement from Test cricket following England’s fifth Test Ashes victory at the Kia Oval on Monday.

The 36-year-old starred for the hosts on the final day as he claimed the vital wickets of Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Australia captain Pat Cummins.

He was denied the wicket of Steve Smith after England skipper Ben Stokes fumbled his celebration after catching the Australian, but finished on a high.

Ali was only called in to England’s set-up last minute as an injury replacement for Jack Leach and went on to play a huge role as Brendon McCullum’s only spin bowl specialist.

More to follow.
