  • Kathryn Ahlers, 28, was arrested on Saturday, August 3 in Winchester, Kentucky
  • Police received a call that two intoxicated people were about to drive a car 
  • When officers arrived, they found Ahler unsteady on her feet
  • Her toddler was not properly restrained in a car seat, and was soiled in urine 
  •  After she was arrested and handcuffed, Ahlers ‘pulled a small plastic bag out of a body cavity’ and ‘began inhaling a white substance’
  • She refused to hand over the bag to police and somehow hid the bag back between her legs

A woman arrested for drunk driving while her toddler was in the car was seen snorting a white substance in the back of a police car, according to authorities.  

Kathryn Ahlers,28, was stopped by police on August 3 after officers received a call saying two intoxicated people were attempting to drive a vehicle in Winchester, Kentucky.  

Officers from the Winchester Police Department arrived at the scene to find Ahlers trying to remove her son from a car seat, but was unable to support herself. 

Authorities say Ahlers was unsteady on her feet and her son’s car seat was improperly fastened. 

Her young son’s diaper was also saturated in urine and there was no food for her to eat.

Police said Ahlers was 'unsteady' and her toddler was found wearing a soiled diaper in an improperly fastened car seat

Ahlers told officers she and her boyfriend were traveling from Lexington to Cincinnati, but became lost. 

Authorities said that after Ahlers was placed in the back of a police cruiser, she unearthed a plastic bag from a body cavity and began snorting a white substance. 

She tried to hide the bag from police by placing it between her legs, but was told by authorities that she would face additional charges if the substance was found in jail.

Authorities transported her to the Clark County Detention Center and formally booked her at 3.29am. 

She is charged with public intoxication, endangering the welfare of a minor, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence. 

She has a pending bond of $2,500.
