Mother fronts court over Sydney schoolyard crash

A woman is expected to face court for the first time on dangerous driving charges relating to a Sydney school crash which killed two children. 

Maha Al-Shennag has a mention at Bankstown Local Court scheduled for Wednesday over the crash at Banksia Road Primary School in Greenacre on November 7.

Jihad Darwiche, eight, and a nine-year-old classmate were killed after an SUV allegedly driven by Al-Shennag smashed into their classroom.

The 52-year-old mother is charged with a string of offences stemming from the incident. 

She is charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.

She is also charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and causing actual bodily harm by misconduct.
