The woman who was targeted by Louise Linton after she criticized her Instagram post on Monday is speaking out against the wife Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin in a new interview.
Jennifer Miller, 44, revealed that she almost never comments on social media posts, but could not stop herself when she saw that Linton had shared a photo of herself getting off a government plane and tagged her designers wears from Tom Ford, Valentio, Hermes and Roland Mouret.
‘Honestly, it was probably just a weak moment for me,’ said an incredibly composed and well-spoken Miller on Tuesday in an interview with CNN.
‘I was frustrated already by some stories I had just read about the Secret Service running out of overtime money because of the excesses of the administration’s travel schedule, and then saw this woman who I didn’t know who she was.’
Miller continued: ‘I knew who the Treasury Secretary was, so I assumed it was his wife, getting off of a government plane for what I assumed was a government trip and basically advertising for all of these European, you know, high-end brands that your average person couldn’t afford.
She went on to add that it was even worse because it had been done in Kentucky, which is ‘one of the poorest states in our country.’
Speaking out: Jennifer Miller (above) was mocked by Louise Linton on Instagram when she called the wife of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin ‘deplorable’
Fashion forward: Linton, 36, posted a photo on Monday of herself exiting a government plane and tagged her high-end wears from the likes of Tom Ford, Hermes and Valentino
Miller, who has three sons and supported Hillary Clinton in the most recent election, wrote on Linton’s post: ‘Glad we could pay for your little getaway. #deplorable’
That resulted in Linton firing back in a condescending comment to Miller, who is six years older than the Scottish-born actress.
In her response, Linton wrote at one point: ‘I’m pretty sure we paid more taxes toward our day “trip” than you did.’
She then followed that up with: Pretty sure that the amount we sacrifice per year is a lot more than you’d be willing to sacrifice if the choice was yours. [arm flex emoji, kissing face emoji].’
And to close it all out, Linton called Miller ‘adorably out of touch.’
That last comment left many and disbelief and caused a bit of ire in others, especially since it was made by a woman who grew up in a Scottish castle and then married a billionaire to a working mother from Oregon.
Miller admitted that she found both humor and reason for concern in Linton’s words.
‘Well, once I found out about the response, I was a little bit amused and a little bit horrified,’ revealed Miller.
‘But mostly just confused as to why she would take the time or effort or energy to put together such a response.’
Miller then added: ‘You know, if I had any respect for her, it probably would have been hurtful, because she was very condescending. She made a lot of assumptions about me and my husband and my life and my family.’
Things got even more surreal and overwhelming for Miller when the feud began drawing increased media attention.
‘I don’t sit on Twitter or Instagram all day. I have a full-time job and three children,’ noted Miller.
When asked again about the claim by Linton that she was ‘out of touch,’ Miller said that she though the statement was rather ‘ironic’ in light of the situation.
‘I find that to be probably the most out-of-touch statement of her whole response because I certainly am not the type of person who would try to display my wealth or brag about it in any way,’ explained Miller.
‘It is – it was deplorable, what she wrote in the first place, and then her response was even worse because if anyone’s out of touch, it’s certainly the person using taxpayer money to go on day trips to visit fort Knox.’
She then quipped: ‘Apparently, they were going to stare at the gold bouillon. I don’t know what the deal was.’
Rage response: ‘I was frustrated already by some stories I had just read about the Secret Service running out of overtime money,’ revealed Miller of why she went after Linton (abiove with Mnuchin earlier this month in Scotland on their honeymoon)
Family: Miller, a working mother with three sons (above with her husband), is now using her newfound 15 minutes of fame to get people to donate to a friend who recently had a stroke
A statement was later released by a spokesperson for Mnuchin, which said: ‘The Mnuchins are reimbursing the government for [Linton’s] travel, and she does not receive compensation for products she mentions.’
That was enought to satisfy Miller, who said of the White House’s response: ‘I’m actually glad. I’m glad that, you know, they are reimbursing all of us, the government, the taxpayers for this trip that she used to advertise for brands that, I don’t know, if her friends own them or what.’
Linton, it should be noted, is not close personal friends with Ford, Mouret, Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino or Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski of Hermes.
She was also not advertising on behalf of any of those companies either, with the four high-end labels eschewing that sort of promotion except in rare instances involving supermodels or A-list stars.
The clothes were instead tagged to promote Linton herself and her own person style.
Miler also said she is also taking advantage of her newfound 15 minutes of fame for a bit of self-promotion.
‘It’s given me a chance to have a lot of followers on Instagram who I’ve shared a fund-raiser with for a friend of mine who recently had a stroke and a lot of people are donating to that,’ revealed Miller.
‘And so I’m trying to make some good out of this situation.’

Linton made her Instagram private on Tuesday, while releasing a statement saying:’I apologize for my post on social media yesterday as well as my response. It was inappropriate and highly insensitive.’
Miller meanwhile got in one more dig at Linton with a post on Tuesday that also took aim at President Trump.
‘Apparently I offended this deplorable girl I had never heard of until today,’ she wrote alongside a screenshot of a June article titled ‘A “white savior” memoirist widely mocked in Africa has married Trump’s treasury secretary.’
‘According to my 20 second Google search, she’s an aspiring Penthouse model who married an old rich guy in a wedding officiated by a homophobe and attended by other couples of similar age and beauty gaps,’ Miller continued.
‘She says she’s a nice person. I doubt it. There weren’t any Nazi sympathizers at my wedding. #byelouise’
New pals: Linton and Mnuchin werre married in June in front of the Trumps and Pences
Going clear: Linton responded by calling Miller ‘adorably’ out of touch, then later issued an apology and made her Instagram private (above)
Linton has been doing her best to increase her profile and be perceived as a style star in the past few weeks, beginning with her honeymoon trip to Scotland.
She managed to cut through the gloomy weather on the day she arrived back in her home country wearing a $3450 white wool coat which she draped over a $1290 long-sleeved v-neck top and $890 black slacks, with a pair of $735 stiletto pumps rounding out the look.
That entire look was courtesy of Ford, with Linton perhaps taking advantage of the ocean separating her from new friend Melania Trump to pull out the luxurious threads given the contentious relationship between the designer and the First Lady.
For bit of label contrast, the Hollywood producer also accessorized the look with an $11,500 black Hermes Birkin bag and $700 over-sized Chanel sunglasses.
She finished off her entrance look with an unexpected bit of color thanks to her $5,000 Goyard cloth bag, which likely had her change of clothes for the couple’s next outing.
That brought the price tag of that look to $23,565, a whooping sum that dos not even include the bracelets Linton has piled on her wrists or her massive engagement ring.
Louise made stops outside the airport and the pair’s hotel for waiting photographer’s before she and Mnuchin headed into their hotel.
The pair were quickly in and out of the Caledonian Waldorf Astoria Hotel however, with Mnuchin reappearing in the same outfit as earlier that day.
And like his wife, it looked to be a mostly Tom Ford ensemble, with Mnuchin appearing to have on a pair of $690 jeans, the $3800 Blue O’Connor Slim-Fit Wool Suit Jacket and a $585 slim-fit blue shirt by the designer.
Linton was feeling a different vibe by midday however, managing to undergo a quick change inside inside the couple’s hotel.
She went with a grab bag of designers for her lunchtime look, with a $975 hydrangea print pussybow blouse by Dolce & Gabbana taking center stage over a pair of $2000 black trousers from The Row.
To top off her lunch look, Linton kept the Tom Ford stilettos but swapped out her Birkin for an over-sized Chanel, opting for the label’s $6,000 large classic handbag in black.
That ensemble put that look at well over $10,000, a number that again did not account for the jewelry worn by the diamond-loving actress.
