Mum sells the world’s first standing ‘flower’ bouquets made entirely of cupcakes: Baked Bouquet

An Australian mum has just launched a website to sell the world’s first standing flower bouquets made entirely of cupcakes after being inundated with requests to make them for birthdays and special occasions on social media.

Macey Nemer, 30, who lives in Sydney, had no prior experience in baking when she started her cupcake company The Baked Bouquet.

The mother-of-three helped run her family’s restaurant in Wollongong, called Samaras, but after marrying her husband and raising three children Macey was looking for a new challenge.

‘I’ve always had a passion for both art and food, and I wanted to combine the two to create a unique product. That’s when I came up with the idea of a standing cupcake bouquet,’ she told FEMAIL.

‘I knew that cupcakes were a popular treat, however I wanted to elevate them into something special.’

Macey spent countless hours researching and experimenting with different cupcake recipes, frosting techniques and decorating styles before landing on the most scrumptious flavour and eye-catching design.

‘I am proud to say that I am the first and only person in the world who has designed a standing cupcake bouquet that looks like a real bouquet of flowers,’ she said.

‘My creative journey didn’t start with cupcakes. In fact, it was the Covid pandemic that changed the way I spent my time and gave me the option to be creative again.

‘As a busy parent of three children under the age of three, finding time for creative pursuits was challenging. However, with the pandemic forcing us all to stay home, I found myself with more free time and the opportunity to pursue my passion for baking.

‘I purchased a few piping tips to try my hand at cupcake decorating and fell in love with the process. I found it extremely therapeutic during such a stressful and chaotic time.

‘From there I continued to practice and experiment until I came up with the standing cupcake bouquets you see today.’

‘I offer boxes of cupcakes that start at $60 and cupcake bouquets starting at $120. All of our cupcakes are delivered across Sydney for our customers’ convenience,’ she explained.

Macey has since been asked to make a unique bouquet for the Downton Abbey movie premiere in Sydney, which she described as both an ‘amazing and fun experience’.

One of her customers even asked for a giant cupcake bouquet with over 115 cupcakes for an engagement celebration.

‘I had to figure out how to design the foundation for the bouquet. I then carefully piped each cupcake and arranged them on the foundation in a way that would create a beautiful garden effect,’ she said.

‘In the end, all of the hard work paid off. The giant cupcake bouquet looked absolutely stunning and it was incredibly rewarding to see the happy couple’s reaction when they saw it.

‘And to top it off the bouquet ended up getting over 7.8million views on Instagram, which was a surreal and exciting experience.’

Macey hopes that one day soon she can deliver her cupcakes Australia-wide and even ship them internationally, so everyone can engage in the unique gift-giving idea.

‘I’ve always dreamed of showcasing my unique baked goods in Dubai, and I’m excited to work hard to make that dream a reality next year,’ Macey said.

‘In addition to expanding my reach, I also want to focus on creating more pieces for events and weddings. I want to help my clients celebrate their special moments with delicious and beautiful treats that truly reflect their style and personality.’
