Murdered pregnant woman’s heartbreaking baby cake picture

The grieving brother of a pregnant woman who was stabbed to death in London this weekend said ‘a beautiful person’s life has been taken away from her’.

Kelly Mary Fauvrelle, 26, was eight months pregnant when she was stabbed at her home in Thornton Heath, south London on Saturday.

The baby was delivered at the scene and remains in a critical condition in hospital – but a devastated aunt has told of her fears he is ‘unlikely to survive’.

Family and friends of Miss Fauvrelle have paid tribute to her on social media.

Her brother, Stephan Alexander Simpson, wrote online: ‘Words can’t describe the pain we’re feeling. You couldn’t have been a better sister, and I thank you for always being there for me, helping whenever I needed it.

‘A beautiful person whose life has been taken away from her. I’ll stay strong, so you’ll always be in my thoughts. I love you more than you can possibly imagine.’

A photo of Miss Fauvrelle posted online shows her posing with a cake which says ‘See you soon, Riley’, which is understood to have been her planned name for her baby.

Kelly Mary Fauvrelle, 26, was found suffering from stab wounds at her home in Thornton Heath, south London, in the early hours of Saturday morning. She was eight months pregnant at the time and her baby, which a relative said is a boy, was taken to hospital.

Miss Fauvrelle was one of six people killed around the country this weekend.

A 37-year-old man arrested on Saturday was released ‘under investigation’ after being questioned by detectives. A second man, aged 29, arrested later that day remains in custody.

Speaking from her home in Crystal Palace, south east London yesterday, Miss Fauvrelle’s aunt said the family know very little about what took place.

Rosa Fauvrelle said: ‘It’s my husband’s niece. He’s at the hospital because they are doing a little blessing because they think the baby might not survive.

‘Everyone’s on edge. No one knows anything at the moment. We don’t know what happened. Everybody at the moment is very hysterical, very tired.

‘People want answers and we’re just not getting anywhere. I know today they have gone to the hospital as they said if you want you can bring a priest in. I don’t think the baby is going to make it.’

She added that her niece was an ‘absolute sweetheart’ and that being a mum was ‘all she dreamed about’.

Another relative, who asked not to be named, said: ‘It is 50/50 whether he will survive.’

In February, Miss Fauvrelle shared a picture of her ultrasound scan on Facebook with the caption: ‘Happy Valentine’s sweet pea…we can’t wait to meet you.’

Other posts revealed she was a keen motorbike enthusiast and in March last year she passed her bus driving test ‘with pretty much full marks’ with Arriva London, who operate Transport for London’s buses.

The company said she undertook bus driver training between February and June 2018 before leaving.

Friend Aaleeah Knowles wrote: ‘Kelly – you were a young woman with a business mind. You were genuine and real.

‘I’m devastated to hear what happened to you. You didn’t deserve this. You’ve touched my soul and my emotions are all over the place for you. You were amazingly intelligent and bright and I’m just devastated.’

A close family friend, who did not wish to be named, added: ‘If you every wanted something she would go out of her way to help you. She was a good and honest person.

‘It’s savage what happened to Kelly. There are about 100 members of her extended family and I spoke to some of them yesterday, they were in pieces on the phone.

‘They will have to live with this for the rest of their lives. Whoever did this – if they were fully aware of what they were doing then they are sick.

‘What in the world could drive somebody to do this?’

Forensic officers could be seen leaving the property and swabbing surfaces in an alleyway running along the side of the house yesterday.

A neighbour said of the incident: ‘We were sleeping but we woke up and we could hear screaming.

‘The police and ambulances were there in the street. My sister said she started hearing screaming at 11.30pm on Friday evening.

‘It was going on all night. I saw them take the baby outside and put it in an ambulance.’

In a statement, Scotland Yard said: ‘Detectives investigating the murder of a pregnant woman in Croydon have made a second arrest and have named the victim as Kelly Mary Fauvrelle.

‘A 29-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, June 29 on suspicion of murder. He was taken to a south London police station where he remains at this time.

‘A 37-year-old male arrested that same day has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.’

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said: ‘Violence against women has no place in our city, and horrific murders in the home like this show the scale of the problem we face.

‘My heart goes out to this innocent child, and to the mother they have so tragically lost.’

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman said: ‘This is a horrific incident in which a young mother has lost her life and her child is critically ill.

‘At the forefront of our enquiries is understanding what exactly has led to these tragic circumstances, and we are doing everything we can to establish the facts.’

Britain’s blood-drenched heatwave weekend: Police launch SIX murder probes in 48 hours of violence as raging heat soared to 93F

Six people were killed around Britain in the last days in a weekend of violence.

Four people died in London, including a pregnant 26-year-old woman, a 27-year-old man was attacked and killed in Maldon, Essex, and a murder investigation was launched after the death of a 47-year-old in Llanelli, south Wales.

The four killings in London took the total number of homicides in the capital this year to 67.

The attacks unfolded on one of the hottest weekends of the year, with temperatures hitting 34C (93F) in west London.

Six people were killed in violent attacks around the country over the weekend

The first murder investigation of the weekend was launched after grandfather Andre Yan Irwin was found fatally wounded on a street in Llanelli in the early hours of Saturday morning.

His family, who are being supported by specialist officers, later paid tribute to the ‘brilliant’ family man.

They said: ‘We are devastated at the sudden and tragic loss of a brilliant father, son, grandfather and fiancé.

‘Andre was a great role model for his grandchildren, and will be very sadly missed.’

Later on Saturday, paramedics rushed to an address in Thornton Heath but were unable to save the heavily pregnant mother Kelly-Mary Fauvrelle who had been stabbed at her home.

A 37-year-old man arrested on Saturday was released ‘under investigation’ after being questioned by detectives. A second man, aged 29, arrested later that day remains in custody.

Further violence flared in south London later when a man in his 50s died following a fight in Lambeth on Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to Coldharbour Lane following reports of a fight where they found the injured 54-year-old.

The London Ambulance Service took the man to hospital but he was pronounced dead just after 10pm.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody. Police have appealed for anyone with mobile phone footage to get in touch.

That evening, in the market down of Maldon, Essex, a 27-year-old man was killed after a brutal attack outside an Iceland supermarket.

Another victim, 26, suffered a broken jaw in the assault which unfolded in the sleepy market town of Maldon, Essex, on Saturday night.

Local police say violence flared at around 9pm when three men attacked the two victims.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and they remain in custody for questioning.

The violence continued later on Saturday night, when a man believed to be in his late 20s was stabbed to death in east London.

Police were called to the junction of Ron Leighton Way and Wakefield Street, Newham, at 11.07pm on Saturday where they found the man suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The final of the six weekends killings happened in London yesterday when an 18-year-old died after staggering into hospital with stab wounds.

Police had been called to reports of a fight in Southwark, south east London, just before 5am yesterday.

They arrested three men, two aged 22 and an 18-year-old, but could not find any trace of the victim until he turned up at hospital.

Despite efforts to save his life he was pronounced dead at 7.30am – just hours after the fight took place.

Det Chief Insp Neil John, of the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: ‘A number of arrests have been made but we urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us immediately to tell us what they know.

‘An 18-year-old has lost his life in violent circumstances and we are working hard to establish exactly what happened.’
