Simplicity is genius and the Everton kit was clean and classy, no experimental designs.
I loved it. Even the name of our sponsors NEC, with white letters against a navy background, looked striking.
For the showpiece occasion against Manchester United, they added the line FA Cup final 1995 above our club crest on the top left. It was a nice touch and gave us an extra sense of occasion.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s team were favourites with stars like Roy Keane and Mark Hughes but we beat them 1-0 and I helped set up the first-half winner for Paul Rideout who scored past goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.
I’m a Londoner and my parents, two sisters and girlfriend at the time travelled up from Wimbledon to Wembley to witness it. It was a great day.
