Nancy Pelosi has branded Donald Trump ‘the most dangerous person in the history of America’ who ‘doesn’t tell the truth’.

In an interview with Variety, the Speaker of the House warned that the country ‘can’t withstand another four years of his presidency’ when discussing her frustrations with the Trump administration.

She claims the President does not respect the Constitution and that his pattern of lying is ‘harming children’.

‘I have real problems with this president because he doesn’t tell the truth, he doesn’t honor the Constitution and he’s harming children. My whole message is about children. Anybody who hurts children — I’m a lioness. Watch out,’ she told the publication.

Pelosi went on to say that she believes Trump to be the most ‘dangerous’ person the country has ever had as president.

‘We have the most dangerous person in the history of our country sitting in the White House,’ she told the publication.

When discussing her hopes for the nomination process, the Speaker of the House explained she wanted Democrats to ‘winnow’ down the field of candidates because ‘our country cannot withstand another four years of Donald Trump’.

‘Hopefully as we winnow down the number of candidates, that big distinction between the two parties will be [evident] there,’ Pelosi says.

‘It has to be. Because our country cannot withstand another four years of Donald Trump. The courts, the press, the environment — everything is …’

But Pelosi, who is the highest-ranking Democrat in elected office, believes the country has the power to ‘withstand’ Trump.

‘The greatness of America is such that we will withstand what [Trump] has done and move on from that. I feel confident about our ability to do that,’ she told the publication.

Speaker Pelosi has emerged as a tour de force against President Trump and the pair have a long-running feud.

It comes after Pelosi scorned Trump’s response to the coronavirus crisis Wednesday, saying: ‘I don’t think the president knows what he’s talking about – once again.’

The Speaker’s sideswipe at the president came after he claimed the response was ‘great,’ boasted nobody had died and tweeted Fox News guests praising him despite lawmakers from both parties expressing concern about the country’s preparations for a crisis.

‘CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus, including the very early closing of our borders to certain areas of the world,’ he tweeted, in apparent backing for Alex Azar, the Health and Human Services Secretary.

But Democrats and Republicans both demanded billions more be allocated for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to fight the virus’ spread, in a sign of bipartisan unease at the Trump administration’s response.
