Former Manchester United stars Nani and Patrice Evra have jokingly urged Gary Neville and Paul Scholes to ‘be careful with the tackles’ when they face each other at Soccer Aid on Sunday.

The pair will play in a star-studded World XI side at Old Trafford, with Usain Bolt captaining a side that features the likes of Hernan Crespo, Roberto Carlos and UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards.

They will be managed by incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino, while their opponents England can select from Euros winner Jill Scott and four-time Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah.

It was their former United teammates on Evra and Nani’s minds, though, as the French fullback said on Instagram:  ‘Hi guys, Gary neville, Scholesy can’t wait to see you tomorrow at Old Trafford, home sweet home.’

He added they should have ‘no beer or fish and chips’ ahead of the game, while Nani asked them to ‘be careful with the tackles.’

Nani and Evra both won three Premier Leagues and a Champions Leagues with United, and played with the English pair for the majority of their time there.

The left back retired from football in 2019 after following a brief spell with West Ham with a year as a free agent, while Nani most recently played for Melbourne Victory in the A-League but left the club at the end of May.

Soccer Aid, which raises money for UNICEF, will have an all-female refereeing team for the first time with top-flight official Abigail Byrne set to take charge.

Georgia Ball and Nicoleta Bria will be Byrne’s assistants while Jane Sims will be on fourth official duty.

There will be no VAR and the game will go straight to penalties if the result is a draw at full-time.
