Natalie Barr narrowly escapes injury as she suffers kitchen explosion

Natalie Barr was left gobsmacked on Wednesday as she suffered a purée explosion in her kitchen while cooking.

The Sunrise star, 56, took to Instagram to document her foray back into cooking after taking a break from it when she suffered an unsightly gaffe.

Whipping up a delicious carrot and ginger soup, the television presenter mashed up her cooked vegetables and put them into a mixer before everything went downhill.

Her eager grin was quickly wiped away when the media personality flicked the mixer on high and copped a face full of steaming hot puree.

Despite having her hand on the lid, the force of the mixer managed to shoot the soup straight up and out, leaving her kitchen walls slathered in mash.

Natalie shared yet another video of the aftermath which saw the thick soup covering her eggs, pasta and other groceries in a small nook of her kitchen.

‘I’ve recovered. I think the heat may have blown the lid off the Vitamix,’ she said in follow up footage as she taste tested the bright orange liquid.

‘I almost burned myself. Anyway I’m okay. Thanks for your concern,’ she added, before revealing the soup had too much celery and needed more carrot.

It comes after Natalie weighed in on a controversial topic regarding vegan sausages being served at post-match sausage sizzles at children’s sporting events last month.

The breakfast show host appeared on a panel with Joe Hildebrand and Cath Webber to discuss the outrageous debate which sparked a nationwide divide.

The outcry began when a vegan mother demanded officials at a junior footy club to stop serving beef sausages and replace them with non-meat alternatives.

Animal rights activist Sheena Chhabra recently emailed South Melbourne Districts Auskick with the controversial suggestion while urging them to cut ties with their long-time meat supplier, which is under investigation for alleged animal cruelty.

Speaking with Joe, 47, and Cath, Natalie attempted to find middle ground for meat-eaters and vegans.

‘Can’t you just whack the vegan one on [the barbeque] first?’ the Channel Seven host asked.

Meanwhile, Joe took aim at vegans and suggested they will never compromise, saying: ‘There’s just no pleasing some people. And by some people, I mean vegans.’
