Just in time for Thanksgiving, a new 4K Ultra HD version of Planes, Trains and Automobiles containing 75 minutes of deleted scenes has been released in the UK on DVD and Paramount Plus.
The 80s classic follows the story line of anxious and stern businessman Neale Page (Steve Martin) who is trying to get home to see his family in Chicago.
Stuck in an airport lounge in Kansas after an emergency landing, Page has to befriend shower curtain salesman Del Griffith (John Candy) who will let him stay the night in a rundown motel.
Together the two of them, from wildly different social classes, have to overcome their intense dislike of each other and get Page home.
At the time the film received critical acclaim, with John Candy being nominated for Funniest Actor in a Motion Picture that year.
But now, 35 years after its initial release, producers have released more than an hour’s worth of unseen clips for loyal fans – although none would have altered the outcome of the film.

Another deleted scene recently aired shows the rotund Griffith tucking into a hotdog while smoking a cigarette in an airport lounge
Page, who is sat opposite him at the time, can be seen sneering at Griffith while he engulfs his dinner
One deleted scene shows Griffith singing ’99 Bottles of Beer On The Wall’ while he and Page are on a large coach.
The infamous coach journey does appear in the original film, where passengers sing an array of well known songs to lift the mood.
But in this new scene, which was not put on the first film, Griffith begins to start singing the North American country song before everyone else joins in.
In the previously unseen footage, Page looks disgruntled and unhappy, as he regularly does in the company of his newfound travel partner.
The new extended 4K film is available to buy on Amazon in the UK for £19.99

Before the filming cuts, Page can be seen filling out the top box of his newspaper crossword with the word ‘grotesque’.
The news comes after it was announced Will Smith and Kevin Hart are set to star in a remake of the classic film

One more deleted clip includes the two getting on the same plane, where they are coincidentally put next to each other by the airline.
After they sit down, Griffith opens his mouth and begins to talk about how hard it is selling shower curtain rings after the release of popular horror film Psycho.
He tells Page that since the ‘bathroom scene, where the killer attacks their victim from behind the rail, fewer people want to invest in his business.
Finally, the new 4k film also includes an extended version of their taxi ride from an airport in Kansas to a filthy and run down motel which they booked for one night.
