  • United only willing to do a permanent deal for Maguire with their tops six rivals
  • Maguire looks be heading for Old Trafford exit with Aston Villa also keen

Newcastle are reportedly eyeing up a loan deal for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, but his club are only interested in doing a permanent deal with the Magpies.

The England defender looks like he is on his out of Old Trafford this summer and the Magpies want to rescue Maguire from United, but the Red Devils do not want to loan the player and help a top four rival without getting anything in return say The Sun.

If though, Newcastle moved to make a cash offer for the 30-year-old, then the club would be willing to do a deal.

Tottenham have already been linked with an interest in Maguire in a bid to convince Harry Kane to stay at the club, but are yet to make a concrete bid.

While Aston Villa are also monitoring the situation as they look for defensive back-up ahead of their European Conference League campaign next season, and could more likely have a loan deal accepted by United.

Harry Maguire is set to leave Man Utd this summer with Newcastle, Tottenham and Villa all keen on signing the England defender

Leicester were also keen on bringing back their former defender to the King Power, but their relegation has put pay to any notion of signing him.

Maguire struggled to get into Erik ten Hag’s first-team at United last season, making only 16 appearances in the Premier League.

The defender is said to be keen on staying at Old Trafford, and his £200,000 a week wages could prove to be a stumbling block in any move away from the club.

However, United are looking to offload Maguire as they look to use the funds in their pursuit of Napoli centre-back Kim Min-Jae.

The South Korean – also on Newcastle’s radar – has a £42million release clause that comes in effect from July 1 and United could swoop for the Serie A title winner.

There has also been talks for Maguire been involved in swap deal with Chelsea as United try and secure the transfer of the Blues’ Mason Mount.

Maguire became the world’s most expensive defender when he signed for United from Leicester for £80million in 2020 and went on to be made captain of the club by then manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, after a series of disappointing displays and the arrival of Lisandro Martinez, Maguire has fallen down the pecking order and is expected to be offloaded by the Red Devils this summer.
