A moment of silence for victims of the Israel-Hamas conflict was marred by chants of ‘Free Palestine’ before Sunday’s NFL London game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Tennessee Titans.

As it did prior to Thursday’s game between the Chiefs and the Broncos, the NFL briefly paid its respects to those impacted by Hamas’ terror attacks in Israel – which has already claimed almost 2,500 lives – ahead of the third and final instalment of its international series in the British capital.

Yet after signaling the start of the silence, a Mail Sport presence at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has confirmed that chants of ‘Free Palestine’ could be heard before it was brought to an end after roughly 12 seconds.

In a comment provided to Dailymail.com, the NFL insisted its moment of silence ‘took place as scripted’ in north London and ‘was not cut short for any reason’.

The silence that was held before the Chiefs’ win over the Broncos on Thursday also lasted for the same amount of time.

Hamas’ series of attacks in Israel have sent shockwaves across the world, with several US citizens said to be among the dead in what has been described as the Jewish state’s ‘worst day in history’.

President Joe Biden has insisted his administration’s support for Israel is ‘rock solid and unwavering,’ while the Empire State Building was lit up in blue and white in solidarity.

A number of high-profile sportspeople have also spoken out on the deadly conflict.

Basketball legend LeBron James took to social media to condemn Hamas on Wednesday, calling the killing of Israel civilians ‘tragic’ and ‘unacceptable’.

‘The murder and violence against innocent people by Hamas is terrorism,’ he wrote in a letter signed by him and business partner Maverick Carter.

Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather also sent a private jet filled with supplies to Israel amid its ongoing war with Hamas.

The NFL and several teams released statement  condemning the attacks by Hamas and offering their support to the people of Israel.

‘The NFL mourns the loss of innocent lives in Israel and strongly condemns all forms of terrorism,’ the league wrote on social media last Monday.

‘The depravity of these acts is beyond comprehension, and we grieve with the families of those killed, injured and still missing. We pray for peace and will alwyas stand against the evils of hate.’
