No NBA team scored less than 80 points in a game for the first time since the 1969-1970 season

For the first time since the 1969-1970 NBA season no team scored less than 80 points in a single game.

Several games came very close to falling below the 80-point mark, most notably the game on December 4 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks when the Cavs recorded only 81 points.

Several factors likely contributed to the record-high scoring, including increased levels of skill and reliance on shooting from distance in the NBA.

The league has also adjusted rules over the years in order to increase scoring numbers and favor offensive players. 

NBA fans should anticipate some exciting outcomes from this year’s upcoming NBA play-in tournament.

The play-in starts on Tuesday when the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds from each conference will face off.

In the Eastern Conference bracket the Miami Heat will face off against the Atlanta Hawks to see who will enter the playoffs as the seventh seed, while the West sees the Los Angeles Lakers vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Whoever loses each game will play again on Friday against the winners of Wednesday’s No. 9 vs No. 10 seed contest in.

The Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors will play each other in the Eastern Conferences matchup, while the New Orleans Pelicans play the Oklahoma City Thunder in the West.

The first round of the playoffs themselves will begin on Saturday after the final seeding is finalized.

Of the four games on Saturday the only one remaining to be arranged is the team that eventually lands the seventh seed to face off against the Boston Celtics.
