You can wear anything – whatever your shape or age, says our contributing editor Trinny Woodall. Here, with friend and collaborator Chloe Dall’Olio, she shows you how
Our very own Trinny Woodall and her fashion partner in crime (and colleague at her beauty brand Trinny London) Chloé Dall’Olio have garnered thousands of fans on Trinny’s Instagram feed with their ‘twinning’ videos, which demonstrate how two women with different proportions can wear the same piece from the high street. ‘Don’t assume that any trend is off limits,’ says Trinny. ‘It’s just about learning how to wear the latest styles on your body and having the confidence to try something new.’
At 5ft 10in with a size 10-12 frame, Trinny, 54, is bottom heavy, while 5ft 9in, 29-year-old Chloé’s size-16 hourglass figure resembles that of the average British woman. Between them they prove that your build – or age – needn’t dictate how you dress. Here the pair twin up in the season’s hottest trends – with tips from Trinny – while Trinny London make-up artist Charlotte Ribeyro suggests beauty looks to match.

DARK FLORALS
Trinny says ‘This print is perfect for both of us – anything larger won’t flatter curves. I covered my legs in slim black trousers and fastened the top button. Chloé wore the dress undone: the V-neck flatters her cleavage while the mid-size belt emphasises her fabulously feminine shape.’
Make-up artist Charlotte says ‘Trinny has a great mouth, and clean cheeks and eyes are all she needs to pair with a deep purple pout. Chloé’s lovely eyes come to life with aubergine shadow.’
LEATHER
Trinny says ‘A leather jacket and white tee are timeless and a perfect foil for the flashy skirt, which suits both of our shapes – no one should be put off by a bit of shimmer on their bottom half! The nipped-in jacket flatters Chloé’s hourglass figure.’
Make-up artist Charlotte says ‘I chose a sheer gold lip for Trinny and gold lids for Chloé to reference the skirt and play up their features.’

CHECKS
Trinny says ‘Because I’m pear-shaped I need more volume on top, so I chose a bigger jacket. The trousers were too short for me, so I took down the hem. Chloé went down a size with her jacket to nip in her waist. The shirt’s high neck lengthens her torso, as do the jacket’s lapels, creating a V shape that draws the eye down.’
Make-up artist Charlotte says ‘A pop of bright colour peps up this formal look. A scarlet lip defines the iciness in Trinny’s blue eyes, while Chloé’s warm skin tone looks great with a tomato red.’

SEVENTIES
Trinny says ‘We’ve given a nod to the trend with a “flatter everyone” pink. I did up my shirt to make sure I didn’t look too literal, while Chloé wore it open for the full 70s vibe. She fitted into a super-stretchy pair of size 29 jeans and wore them with a jacket a size smaller, as this look needs to be tight and sexy.’
Make-up artist Charlotte says ‘Trinny’s blue eyes dazzle with a copper shade – golds and bronzes would work too. For Chloé, matt lips and bronzer say California beach babe.’
UTILITY
Trinny says ‘To disguise my long body, I’m wearing this open to the waist with a flash of gold. Chloé did up most of the buttons to elongate her torso.’
Make-up artist Charlotte says ‘Terracotta cheeks and lips suit Trinny for this low-key look, while Chloé’s smoky brown eyes sex it up.’
SHIMMER
Trinny says ‘Anyone can rock a sequined party dress. Chloé wore hers back to front, creating a flattering V-neck with clever pinning.’
Make-up artist Charlotte says ‘Bold eyes – plum for Trinny, copper for Chloé – and nude lips create just the right amount of drama with a showstopper dress.’
