The 35-year-old Serbian is a self-proclaimed AC Milan fan and has expressed his affection for the Serie A giants several times in the past.

Top-ranked Djokovic is set to play Tomas Martin Etcheverry this week in the Italian Open, but took time away from the tournament to watch the game.

The Serbian tennis superstar posed for photos at the San Siro with injured forwards Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Rafael Leao.

Djokovic, who is tied with Rafael Nadal of Spain for the men’s record of 22 Grand Slams, is friends with Ibrahimovic.

The Swedish striker publicly backed Djokovic when he was deported from Australia. 

‘I am friends with Zlatan Ibrahimovic,’ he told GOAL. ‘We often talked about my situation in Australia. 

‘He also supported me publicly, which I really appreciate. I’m a Milan fan and we hope to win the Scudetto this year.’

Djokovic previously said: ‘I’m a big fan of Milan and I’ll always be. For me, football is second only [to] tennis. 

‘My father was a professional footballer and at home we always watch the Rossoneri’s games with great interest.’
