Musician and songwriter Teddy Geiger is transitioning to a woman.
The 29-year-old producer took to Instagram early Friday morning to make the revelation after being asked ‘why do you look different lately?’.
Geiger is best known for writing many hits including for big name acts One Direction and Shawn Mendes.

The talented star posted a screenshot of the reply to the fan on the picture-sharing social network: ‘Okay… because u asked nicely… I am transitioning.
‘I started talking about it with a couple of my close friends and family about a month ago and it’s given me the courage to start the process.’
Teddy revealed that the natural next step was to open up to fans.
The Stitches songwriter concluded: ‘Love it or hate this is who i have been for a looooong time. I love u guys. Talk sooooon byeeee.’

Teddy first drew national attention as a finalist on VH1’s In Search Of The Partridge Family later opening for Hilary Duff on her summer 2005 Still Most Wanted Tour.
The musician did find some success as a solo star as For You I Will (Confidence) was released in February 2006 and reached number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100.
A month later Geiger’s debut album Underage Thinking was released on March 21, 2006 peaking at number 8 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
The artist did no released a second full-length album until the release of The Last Fears in May 2013.
Geiger has since focused more of his attention on writing songs for other acts.
The artist wrote two songs for One Direction: Little Black Dress in 2013 and Where Do Broken Hearts go in 2014.
In 2015 Teddy helped pen Shawn Mendes hit Stiches which debuted at number 1 in the US and Canada and went multi-platinum.
This year Geiger has written songs for Mendes, Maroon 5, and James Blunt.
