Outrage as owner of ‘beautiful people’ dating site shares long list of surgery Ruth Langsford needs

A plastic surgeon who works with the founder of a dating site that’s only open to ‘beautiful’ people horrified Ruth Langsford’s fans by offering the This Morning host tips on the procedures she might benefit from.

This Morning viewers were outraged when the creator of US-based dating site BeautifulPeople.com, Greg Hodge, and cosmetic surgeon Linda Li explained via live video link from the US on Friday’s show how they offer plastic surgery advice to would-be members who have been rejected.

During the segment, Ruth and her husband and co-host Eamonn Holmes both had their own looks assessed, and Li suggested Ruth could get full-body liposuction as well as tweaks to her face.

The comments angered those watching at home, who insisted Ruth is beautiful and doesn’t need to change her looks, as the presenter coolly brushed off the advice.

‘Ruth Langsford is so beautiful. This plastic surgeon from the dating website is so annoying! Ignore her @RuthieeeL!’ said one.

‘I was disgusted when listening and watching the discussion over how only beautiful people are allowed on this particular site. This is why so many young people have eating disorders or have low self esteem and confidence etc due of how society paints “beauty”,’ fumed another viewer.

‘Are you bloody kidding that woman [is] critiquing RUTH. Ruth’s looks smash hers,’ added another.

Eamonn and Ruth learned that you have to be beautiful to get on to Beautifulpeople.com dating site, where members vote on whether new applicants should be allowed to join or not.

They claimed that 85 per cent of applicants are rejected for not being beautiful enough – but now they are offering plastic surgery to help people get on the site.

On seeing a photo of Ruth, Dr Linda Li – who works with Greg – said, ‘Your picture looks absolutely radiant but if you were rejected from the website, the things that I would point out to you is that you do show early signs of facial ageing.

‘The upper and lower eyelid skin as well, your smile lines are a little more prominent…and we can soften all of that.

‘And women, as we age, the hormones start to leave our body and it becomes more and more difficult to maintain a slim figure, so when we disrobe, it may make us more comfortable to have a slimmer figure and liposuction is a great way to do it.’

Eamonn and Ruth were both assessed and were given a list of changes they could make to their features to look more youthful

Eamonn said: ‘Are you saying she [Ruth] would need lipo on all of her body?’

Dr Linda Li said: ‘I would need to evaluate her, but you know what, it’s about what bothers her ultimately.’

After seeing a photo of Eamonn, consultant Dr Linda Li gave her feedback.

She said of Eamonn: ‘The man is handsome but there are definite signs of ageing… and as we age, we look less attractive.

‘Therefore, if you were rejected from the site, things that I would suggest to consider brightening your eyes with surgery, removing excess upper and lower eyelid skin, the bags that you have going on, and the jawline as we age the skin begins to sag a little bit so tightening it up make you look more youthful…’

Founder Greg Hodges of BeautifulPeople.com admitted that he was recently rejected from his own site and Dr Li has said that she has an eye for spotting what people need to change

Founder Greg Hodges of BeautifulPeople.com admitted that he was recently rejected from his own site and Dr Li has said that she has an eye for spotting what people need to change

Greg – who confessed he’d been rejected from his own site earlier this year – explained: ‘We judge people all the time, it’s not shallow to be with someone you’re attracted to.

‘It’s human nature… there are website out there where you have to be a certain race, colour or religion, and I find those much more offensive than a dating site that based on the principle of human nature.’

It was revealed British and Irish men are not deemed as attractive as other nations who have applied.

And Greg said: ‘It stings me as well being British but unfortunately British and Irish men, Polish and Russian are the least attractive men in the world, only nine per cent of British and Irish men that applied to the website actually get accepted.’

As an additional feature to the site, you can now also get feedback on what plastic surgery you need to be able to become a member – but it’s still not guaranteed.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am
