Paedophile hunter confronts suspected pervert in Florida

This is the moment a self-styled paedophile hunter confronts a suspected pervert after apparently fooling him into thinking he was a teenage girl – by impersonating a child on the phone.

Voice actor Shane Coyle, 38, pretended to be a 15-year-old girl who had stolen her sister’s car so she could travel to see the married father, after he allegedly approached her online and groomed her for sex.

After just two days of chatting Mr Coyle drove to a convenience store in Plant City, Florida, to corner the 49-year-old.

Throughout the 30-minute journey, the former MTV prank call show host flattered the suspect with his female persona – referring to him as ‘sir’ – and promised to be there ‘as fast as I can’.

But as time passed the man grew impatient, demanding to know where the ‘girl’ was and shouting at her for not following directions properly.

His faced dropped when Mr Coyle eventually confronted him and using the child’s voice revealed: ‘You’ve been speaking to me the whole time.’

Dramatic footage of the sting was streamed live on Facebook yesterday and has been viewed more than 75,000 times.

It shows Mr Coyle talking with the suspect on the phone as he heads along the freeway.

Putting on a girl’s voice, he says: ‘This is only my second time meeting someone online. The first guy I met was such a jerk.’

The man replies: ‘Well, I tell you what, baby, don’t worry about me being a jerk because I’m not a jerk. I’m a sweetheart.’

He asks the suspect what he wants to do when they meet up and says: ‘I hope you’re not freaking out.’

He responds by describing the vile sex acts he wants to perform, causing Mr Coyle to cringe in disgust.

He adds: ‘You’ll be my first in three years.’

Mr Coyle says: ‘Oh, my God. That’s so cool. I feel like I’m special, like the only one.’

He replies: ‘Hell yeah, you’re special. And then we’ll make it special.’

The suspect then gets angry when he is asked to meet at a nearby convenience store instead of his house.

Determined to lure him out into the open, Mr Coyle begs: ‘Just meet me at Circle K, please.’

He snaps back: ‘I can’t walk that far. Listen to me. Why aren’t you listening to me?’

Mr Coyle feigns tears and starts to ramble but the suspect shouts: ‘Listen to me and stop talking.’

He orders ‘her’ to go to the convenience store and eventually agrees to meet there.

Minutes later, Mr Coyle approaches the suspect outside the store and asks him to sit down on a nearby kerb while the police are called.

He says: ‘You are a f****** scumbag. You’re here to meet a 15-year-old kid. I’m a father, you’re a father. You should be ashamed, man.’

Using the female voice, Mr Coyle says: 'Hi, how are you? This is Jennifer. You've been speaking to me the whole time.'

He claims he thought the ‘girl’ was 18 and insists: ‘I wasn’t gonna touch her.’

Switching back to his real voice, he asks: ‘It’s quite a shock, isn’t it?’

The stunned suspect simply nods and says: ‘Uh huh.’

Police arrived a short time later and questioned everybody at the scene.

Mr Coyle and his team were heard making arrangements to send digital copies of their evidence to officers before the live feed was cut.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said no arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesman said: ‘We are aware of the incident and it is currently under investigation.’
