‘She went into nursery and came back saying: ‘Hey mummy, you’re a liar! You told me Paige fell and bumped her head, she was stabbed. My friend in nursery knows, she said she was stabbed on our doorstep.

She also revealed: ‘I’ve wrote to him [Leathem]. He is not going to write back to me, he is not going to accept a visit.

‘I’ve made clear from day one I’d visit and face him. I’d like to look him in the eye and say ‘why?’

Mrs Munro gave birth to her youngest child, Penny, 10 months ago – a year after the tragic death of her older daughter.

Mrs Munro and her 35-year-old husband Andy had previously said the pregnancy was a ‘positive to focus on’ after the tragedy.

She told the Daily Record: ‘Penny has given us new hope and Paige would have adored her. I’m just so sad that she will never have the chance to meet her.

‘We keep photos all around the house so Penny will grow up and know all about Paige.

‘We’ve been to hell and back but Penny has brought us happiness during a very difficult time.’

Mrs Munro, 35, and her partner gave their little girl the middle name ‘Paige’ in memory of her older sister. Penny joins Andrew, 11, Paton, six, and Lucas, two, at the family home near Glasgow.
