Patti Newton is set to take the stage in Grease: The Musical.

And the 78-year-old widow, who lost her husband Bert in 2021, says that the late entertainer is supporting her showbiz comeback from the other side.

During an appearance on The Project on Tuesday, Patti stated that she received a sign from Bert with his blessing for her to take the role.

‘The phone rang and it was [theatre producer] John Frost,’ she explained.

As the producer was asking Patti to star in the glitzy musical, a butterfly then landed on her car.

‘A yellow butterfly then flew on my windscreen and he just fluttered there for the whole time,’ she said.

‘[It] was definitely Bert. It was a message. It was a sign,’ she insisted.

Patti has renewed her showbiz career as a way to cope with the loss of her beloved husband, who died in October 2021 at the age of 83.

Earlier this year, the widow threw herself into a featured role in the touring stage production of Mary Poppins.

Married to Bert for a staggering 47 years, Patti told the Herald Sun that doing the hit musical was one of ‘best things’ she could do for herself, because it helped her heal.

‘I was told (after Bert’s death) that you will go one of two ways,’ she said in an interview with the publication.

‘You can either sit at home and mope,’ she explained, or be somebody that ‘looks forward to the future’.

Patti also said doing the Brisbane shows was ‘one of the best things I did, because it took me out of myself and helped me heal.’

She added: ‘And I knew Bert would want me to do it, it was a good thing for me.’

The starlet will now continue performing as part of Grease: The Musical, which kicks off in late December.
