Paul Bamba has confirmed his clash with Tommy Fury is off after a dispute about the weight for the fight.

Fury was meant to take on Bamba on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition bout against Deji this evening. It would have marked his first fight since April.

However, TNT weighed-in at just over 181lb – which is almost 7lb above the light heavyweight limit. As a result, Global Titans decided to pull the plug on the bout.

Bamba confirmed his clash with Tommy Fury is off after a dispute about the weight for the fight

Fury’s team is said to have negotiated a higher weight for the 23-year-old prior to the fight. Fury was reportedly allowed to weigh in at 178 ½lb – however he was 3lb overweight.

Speaking about the situation, Bamba said he was not made aware of the agreement over Fury’s weight. He said he was preparing for a light-heavyweight bout, not a cruiserweight fight.

Bamba went on to say they were trying to come to a financial agreement following the weigh-in but insisted it was Global Titans who terminated negations and called off the fight.

Bamba told FredPBDeck: ‘The situation as we know it at the moment is that’s Global Titans has cancelled my event due to a lack of being able to come to a mutual and amicable agreement.

‘I wasn’t given what I wanted, they’ve been telling people they’ve been offering me a bunch of things but ultimately when I get home and there’s a lot less laws to worry about, I’ll be a lot more vocal about this.

‘At the end of the day, there were two separate contracts for the weight. Which is not fair. I don’t know who’s fault that is and I’m not placing blame on anyone but it’s not right.

‘I made weight. I did what I needed to do. I was ready to make a negotiation and make things happen if things were done the right way.

‘It’s about 2 o’clock, we’re supposed to fight to eight hours. I gave him the time frame and he did not meet me at that time frame.

‘John Fury actually gave me a call and met me outside. He was trying to make it work. But, we were interrupted by a representative from Gobal Titans and we were told the fight was off.

‘That’s all I can comment now given everything that’s going on. Fury camp was trying to make it work with me and then all of a sudden there was a power play move made and we were both told to stop negotiations and that they didn’t care. They weren’t willing to pay themselves. That’s where we are.

‘At the end of the day, all contract are subject to agreement. And we couldn’t all agree so here we are. I appreciate John Fury for being super respectful and if your son still wants to fight me I will come to the UK no problem.

‘I would love that fight. I just need to know the weight ahead of time. Tommy can shoot for his 9-0 and I will shoot for my 6-2. I plan to be victorious though.’

Fans have taken to social media to slam Fury, despite the fact Bamba has praised his camp for trying to push the fight over the line.

They have grown frustrated with the 23-year-old, who last fought in April when he beat Daniel Bocianski on the undercard of his older brother Tyson’s world title fight against Dillian Whyte.

They have accused Fury of ducking fights given his clash with Jake Paul fell apart and he is now missing out on the chance to face Bamba.

KSI Tweeted: ‘Tommy fury is an absolute joke’, while one fan wrote: ‘Tommy fury you’re an absolute melt lad.’

Another added: ‘How did Tommy Fury get his mrs pregnant??? Pulls out of everything!’.

While one fan said: ‘Tommy Fury is one very embarrassing guy. Once again giving it all the talk and another one of his fights is off because of him. Give up you cringe bag’.
