Paul Pogba will cheer his France team-mates on from the stands when they take on Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday.

Pogba has not been involved for the reigning world champions in Qatar after suffering a thigh injury in training in October.

Didier Deschamps’ side have not missed the Juventus star though, with a midfield combination of Adrien Rabiot, Aurelien Tchouameni and Antoine Griezmann guiding the French to back-to-back finals.

Pogba was pictured working out with his former United team-mate Rio Ferdinand in their hotel gym before the showpiece event on Sunday.

The BBC pundit shared several photos of himself chatting to the French midfielder ahead of the game at the Lusail stadium.

Ferdinand posted the photos with the accompanying caption: ‘Just 2 guys putting in hard work… @paulpogba. Good to see you bro! #fifaworldcup’.

Pogba will be hoping his team-mates can retain their title as the champions of the world when they face Argentina.

However, a virus that deprived Deschamps of three players for their semi-final win over Morocco on Wednesday at Al Bayt is threatening to take down more of his Les Bleus squad.

There had been talks of Benzema returning to the squad for their showdown with Argentina after recovering from his thigh injury.

Given Benzema never officially withdrew from the France squad, he would be eligible to play in the final.

However, Deschamps has decided against recalling the 34-year-old, who is still in Spain training with Real Madrid.

There were question marks around whether Benzema would still fly out to Qatar to support of his team-mates.

However, it has now been reported that Benzema rejected the chance to attend the World Cup final with France.

According to RMC Sport via Get French Football News, Benzema rejected an offer from Emmanuel Macron to take a presidential plane to Lusail to attend the game and support his side.
