Images from the scene show plumes of smoke emanating from the truck which appears to have crashed into a barrier at the turn off from South Dowling into Dacey Avenue.

The major road runs alongside Moore Park and the Moore Park Golf Club, linking the CBD to south Sydney and the airport.

The truck is stopped near Dacey Avenue which cuts through the golf course and travels towards Randwick and Coogee.

Aerial images of the major roads show cars banked up for kilometres, with warnings in place across the city advising motorists to avoid the area.
