People SLAM ‘gross’ and ‘insulting’ bracelet adorned with pig charm and ‘fatphobic poem’

Pig charm bracelet that comes with a poem telling dieters in the ‘fatty club’ to ‘remember Mr Piggy ‘while stuffing your face’ is branded ‘insulting’ by horrified Twitter users

  • Cara Lisette, from UK, shared snap of bracelet adorned with pig charm online
  • Included offensively written poem aimed at anyone who has failed at dieting
  • Twitter users were ‘gobsmacked’ by the gift and questioned who would buy it

A woman has expressed her outrage after stumbling upon an offensive pig-themed bracelet and ‘fatphobic’ poem which can be bought as a gift for people hoping to ‘lose the pounds’ at ‘fatty club.’

Mental health blogger Cara Lisette, from the UK, took to Twitter and shared a snap of a bright pink rope bracelet adorned with a silver pig charm and penned: ‘Okay I just came across the WORST thing online shopping….Literally imagine someone buying you this? I hate it??’

The poem, titled ‘Diet Time (AGAIN!),’ reads: ‘I hear it’s DIET time for you once more, I know you haven’t had much luck before!

‘So I saw this little GIFT and thought of you. Maybe MR PIGGY can help you through!’

It continues: ‘When you feel like STUFFING your FACE. Look at MR PIGGY and think of your WAIST!

He’s to remind you that you need to be GOOD. Lose the £££s when you get on the scales at FATTY CLUB.’

The offensively-worded poem ends: ‘If the bracelet starts to FRAY…it means your WISH maybe on its WAY!’

Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t long before the post was inundated with comments from shocked and disgusted social media users.

‘Ermm. Wow. I’m gobsmacked tbh,’ wrote one, while a second penned: ‘OMG. This is just gross and to whoever wrote it, “good and club” don’t rhyme.’

Taking to the comments section, one person questioned: 'This is a present? Like something you give to demonstrate your affection or indeed love for someone?' (pictured)

Elsewhere, some questioned who would buy anyone such an ‘insulting’ gift, while others worried it could ‘do harm’ to people.

‘This is a present?’ questioned one. ‘Like something you give to demonstrate your affection or indeed love for someone? So what is in the ‘things for people you hate’ category?’

Another added: ‘The fact that it even exists is disgusting, and to think it’s a good idea to market it as a GIFT!?!? Jeez.. I saw this thing once where you put some kind of sensor on the fridge that connected to a pig magnet that oinks every time you open the door.. just.. Idk what to say.’

A third wrote: ‘I get that the intention is probably ok – supporting a friend who *wants* to lose weight – but it’s just such a fatphobic “poem” that it’s no longer supportive, just insulting,’ while a fourth penned:

‘This is completely reckless. What if someone is really struggling with their weight or has an eating disorder and get given this? This can do so much harm to people! Like how did they create this product and think it was acceptable to sell?’
