Perth business owner receives email telling them to water their succulents

Is this the most bizarre neighbourhood note of all time? Businesses receive complaint about a plant ‘not thriving’ at the front of their office – complete with passive-aggressive suggestions

  • Email was sent to businesses after person noticed plants outside office in Perth
  • Sender complained the plants were not thriving and reflected badly on owners

Business owners have been shocked to receive a bizarre email from a passerby complaining they didn’t water their plant enough.

The companies were sent the email by a disgruntled resident who noticed unhealthy looking succulent bowls outside the office on Hay Street in Perth.

The email accused the business owner of failing to water the plants as they looked like they were not ‘thriving’.

‘It just reflects extremely badly on both your enterprises,’ the email read.

‘You are in the businesses of caring for the living and eliminating technology problems, but not out the front of your building.

‘It just reflects a lack of care and attention to detail. I find it strange that you or one of your employees has not reported this problem.’

The email suggests the business owner takes the matter up with the strata manager and waters the plant in the meantime.

‘I do not know the name of your strata manager, so you will have to report it to them yourselves,’ it read.

‘While you wait for your strata manager to attend to this, you could improve things by throwing a couple of buckets of water into the bowl.

‘This is a low technology act that will have a big impact on the care of the living.’

A copy of the email was uploaded to Facebook where it divided social media users.

Some accused the sender of overstepping their bounds by emailing the business owners.

‘In the time it took to write this they could have stopped and watered it,’ one wrote.

Others swooped in to defend the email saying the business needed to be held accountable.

‘I agree 100% with this email lol,’ another wrote. ‘That’s such a hilarious and amusing move to email a company about the state of their succulents.’
