Police appeal to find suspect become Facebook hit

Hundreds of Facebook users have shared and commented on the police appeal showing a CCTV image of a man who police believe could help their investigations into a serious assault in Falkirk last year

A police appeal to track down a man wanted for questioning has proved to be a hit on social media after users realised the uncanny resemblence to Jim Carrey’s Dumb and Dumber character.

Hundreds of Facebook users have shared and commented on the police appeal showing a CCTV image of a man who police believe could help their investigations into a serious assault in Falkirk last year.

The victim in the incident was hospitalised after being punched in the face in December last year.

Yet the police appeal to track down the suspect appears to have backfired as social media users seemed more focused on mocking the suspect’s ‘bowl cut’ than providing information which could help the police investigation.

A large amount of the comments focus around how the suspect resembles Lloyd Christmas, who is played by Jim Carrey in the classic Dumb and Dumber films.

Users could not resist posting GIFs and pictures from Dumb and Dumber as they poked fun at the man.

Others users compared the suspect to Spock, Still Game’s Methadone Mick and even North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Charmaine Crossley said: ‘It’s one of the pair from Dumb and Dumber ain’t it? I’d recognise that hair anywhere.’

Keith Cassells asked: ‘Lloyd Christmas?’

Lynnette Dargie added: ‘Dumb and dumber. What’s Jim Carrey doing in Falkirk?’

Alex Conboy commented: ‘Dumb and Dumber on steroids.’

While Christopher Graham said: ‘Needing lifted for that haircut.’

Aud Kerr said: ‘On a serious note tho his barber should be jailed.’

And David Nicholson added: ‘Find the barber more like, that’s a bigger crime.’

The Forth Valley Police Division shared an image of the man on their Facebook page yesterday, and it has since been shared nearly 1,000 times and had more than 300 comments.

The appeal read: ‘We have today released a CCTV image of a man we wish to trace as part of an ongoing investigation into a serious assault.

‘The incident happened at around 12.15am on Sunday 3rd December 2017 in the Princes Street area of Falkirk, near to the junction with Park Street.
