Police pull body from River Clyde during search for missing 21-year-old woman who disappeared on night out in Glasgow nearly four weeks ago

  • A body was recovered from the River Clyde in the search for Lexi Carmichael, 21
  • Police said the body, which was discovered Monday, has yet to be identified  
  • It is understood Miss Carmichael’s family have been informed by authorities 

A body has been recovered from the River Clyde in the search for a woman who has been missing for a month.

Formal identification is yet to take place, however it is believed to be 21-year-old Lexi Carmichael, who was last seen on Wednesday, 11 December, 2019. 

Authorities had been scouring the river after her disappearance in December.

Miss Carmichael’s family have been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. 

A police spokesman said: ‘Police Scotland can confirm that a body was recovered from the River Clyde in Glasgow on Monday January 6.

‘Inquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the person.

‘Officers are liaising with the family of Lexi Carmicahel and will keep them informed of any further developments.’ 

Miss Carmichael was last seen at around 11.05pm on Wednesday December 11 on St Vincent Place in Glasgow’s city centre, walking in the direction of Queen Street. 

Distraught mother Petula had previously written of her sorrow after her daughter’s disappearance in a post on Facebook: ‘Our world has fell apart … our gorgeous girl has gone and we are devastated. No words can describe the pain we are in.’
