Police release description of mystery tattooed woman found washed up on a Cornish beach in bid to identify her

  • Body was found by dog walkers on the beach at Perranporth before 7am today 
  • Police appeal for information about the death on UK’s ‘ninth best beach’ 
  • Described as white female, aged late 20s to mid-30s, between 5ft 4in and 5ft 6in
  • Had several tattoos including Celtic-type tattoo on right thigh and a date in Roman numerals on her ankle

Police are appealing for help identifying a woman who was found dead on a Cornish beach earlier today.

They have released a description of the woman – including details of distinctive tattoos – in the hope of gathering more information about the currently ‘unexplained’ death.

Emergency services received a 999 call just before 7am of reports of a deceased woman being found on Perranporth beach on the north Cornwall coast.

On arrival, the woman’s body was located on the waterline, and searches of the beach were carried out by police and the coastguard.

Officers are conducting enquiries to establish who the woman is and the circumstances surrounding her death.

In an appeal to the public, Detective Constable Simon Murray, of Truro CID released a detailed description of the woman.

‘Just before 7am on Monday 15 April 2019, police were called to Perranporth beach after dog walkers discovered the body of a deceased female along the waterline,’ said DC Murray.

‘Police are still trying to identify this female.

‘She is described as a white female, aged in her late 20s to mid-30s, between 5ft 4in and 5ft 6in tall and of average build.

‘She has shoulder-length dark brown hair and has several tattoos; a large Celtic-type tattoo on her right thigh and a date in Roman numerals on her ankle.’

The police investigation into the woman’s death continues.
