With the global coronavirus pandemic restricting people to the confinement of their homes to limit the spread of the disease, a new Australian business has developed a unique bar service ‘on wheels’.

The new concept titled ‘The Emerson On Wheels’ was created to allow people to enjoy themselves while at home.

Between the hours of 10am to 10pm daily the bar service has a full range of beverages available for customers to choose from depending on their alcoholic preference and taste.

From beer to spirits, wine and cocktails, the service is accessible seven days a week with a ten kilometre radius of South Yarra in Victoria.

Prices are determined per beverage and is based on the number of drinks ordered, with the cheapest starting at only $8 for a bottle of Moscato and following through to the thousands.

Platters and packages are also available with the Party Package priced at $105, which includes a 700 mililitre bottle of house spirits, three mixers of your choice, ice and a delicious antipasto platter.

A single antipasto platter is also available for $50 and features three dips, three different types of cheeses (cheddar, brie and blue), olives, stuffed peppers, bread and crackers.

On top of the new bar service, The Emerson offers kitchen service with their Easey’s Food Delivery, allowing the business to offer their menu to customers through UberEats and Deliveroo.

While the bar on wheels scheme sounds ideal, a $15 delivery fee applies per delivery.

Each order must be placed prior to 10pm otherwise the service will arrive the following day.

This isn’t the first Melbourne bar that’s now offering a ‘happy hour at home’ service during the COVID-19 lockdown period – Made in the Shade group is acting swiftly to also provide home deliveries from their venues.

Marguax, The Everleigh Bottling Co and Connie’s pizza are some of the group’s businesses offering this additional facility.

Particularly The Everleigh Bottling Co. are working on a special release of ‘medicinal’ cocktails that if nothing else, lift the spirits in a time of doom and gloom.

The growing trend is set to enhance hygiene practices via accepting contactless payments, reducing venue capacity to better allow for social distancing and requesting for all patrons wash their hands on arrival.
