Princess Mary and royal family run from Sydney weather

While it may have been perfect sailing weather this morning, Princess Mary and Prince Frederik were not expecting to get caught in the nasty downpour.

The royal family ran for cover after spending the day embracing the perfect yachting weather, before it all took a turn for the worse.

Princess Mary was spotted carrying a number of bags moments before the heavy rain began to set in.

The Danish royals appeared to be running along the pier after spending the morning on their yacht.

In a desperate bid to escape the huge storm that battered Sydney Wednesday afternoon, the young children ran down the pier battling the gusty winds.

Princess Mary seemed to be getting into the festive season by donning a red and white flowy knee length frock paired with simple black thongs and a charcoal coloured sun hat.

The 45-year-old mother-of-four was also spotted carrying a tan coloured handbag, large black suit case and grey overnight bag.

Her husband, Prince Frederik, meanwhile, opted for dark button up shirt, light coloured shorts, thongs and a tan coloured cap.

The Danish royals, including the couple’s children, Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, were spotted escaping the wild weather as they disembarked their super yacht Masteka 2.

Princess Mary, Prince Frederik and their family touched down in Sydney last week to enjoy an Australian Christmas for the first time in years.

After taking part in a yacht race on Sydney harbour mere hours after their arrival, the family have kept busy.

According to the Daily Telegraph, it’s rumoured that Prince Frederik could be planning to compete in the inaugural Sydney to Hobart race on the vessel, which kicks off on Boxing Day.

They also enjoyed a beach day later after the run, again at Palm Beach on Friday, complete with body boards, swimming and beach football.

The Australian-born Princess and her husband arrived with their four children ahead of a planned holiday with Mary’s family.

‘The Crown Prince couple travel together with their four children, TRH Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, to Australia and celebrate Christmas with the family of HRH The Crown Princess,’ a statement from the palace read.

Princess Mary visited Australia with her family in 2015, as well as with Prince Frederik in 2013, but did not travel to Tasmania, Mary’s hometown, on either trip.

The royal family’s previous holiday in Australia garnered numerous headlines as they visited the likes of Perth, the Gold Coast, and Byron Bay.
