A psychopath has been jailed indefinitely for raping and degrading four women after he was released from prison for an earlier sexual assault.
Richard Apperley, 39, raped a pregnant woman while punching her stomach and raped a mother in front of her three-year-old son who was left traumatised.
He tied up his victims, filmed them and even invited another balaclava-clad man to his house to rape one of them, the New Zealand Herald reported.

A judge on Thursday described him as sadistic and said he needed to be locked up indefinitely to protect women.
Apperley began his spree aged in the 1990s in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
He abducted and raped a 15-year-old girl and was sentenced to 10 years in jail in 1998 at the age of 19.
When he was released on an extended supervision order, he found more victims.
Apperley would dupe the women into dating him before their sex would become non-consensual.
His first victim told police that she put up with Apperley’s abuse to stop him assaulting others.
She said her would try to coax her into abducting a girl from the street so they could defile her.
On one occasion, she was raped by him and another man wearing mask while her three children were in the house.
Apperley’s second victim said he would often put her hands around her throat.
Apperley met his third victim when she found him in her backyard.
The rapist claimed he was trying to find an address where his mother used to work.

He charmed the woman and they struck up a friendship and then a romance.
But the psychopath abused and raped her over several years.
In 2010, he met his fourth victim. He would write degrading words on her body, film her and whisper that she liked ‘having sex with a rapist’.
He would hold her down as she raped him. All Apperley’s victims struggled to get away because they feared he would kill them.
Apperley pleaded guilty to 14 charges including rape and assault with a weapon.
The judge at the High Court at Wellington told him his victims’ ‘disgust and distress was your pleasure.’
